QuickBooks Desktop end of support: is your version still covered?
Intuit ends connected services for each QuickBooks Desktop version on 31 May, three years after its release year. QuickBooks Desktop 2023 reached that date on 31 May 2026; Desktop 2024 follows on 31 May 2027. Check yours in ten seconds.
- Bank feeds and payroll updates stop on the end date
- No more security patches for that version
- The file still opens — so the risk is easy to miss

When a version reaches its end date, Intuit stops bank feeds, payroll, online backup, live support and security updates for it. The software may still open, but it is no longer protected or connected. Dates follow Intuit's three-year discontinuation policy for US editions; regional editions can differ, so ask us to confirm yours.
Two sensible paths — we support both
Stay on Desktop: upgrade to a supported version
Right if you depend on Desktop-only features or work mostly offline. We supply current QuickBooks Desktop licences, upgrade your company file and check it after conversion.
Ask about Desktop licencesMove to QuickBooks Online: end version deadlines
Right if you want remote access, multiple users without a server and automatic updates. We migrate your file with history and reconcile it before go-live — billed in KES.

Each QuickBooks Desktop version loses its connected services three years after its release year, on 31 May. Intuit has also stopped selling new subscriptions to some US Desktop editions, while Enterprise continues. Your file keeps opening after support ends, but bank feeds, payroll updates, online backup and security patches stop.
When does support end for QuickBooks Desktop 2023 and 2024?
Under Intuit's three-year policy, QuickBooks Desktop 2023 connected services ended on 31 May 2026, and QuickBooks Desktop 2024 ends on 31 May 2027. QuickBooks Desktop 2021 ended on 31 May 2024 and 2022 on 31 May 2025.
What stops working when QuickBooks Desktop support ends?
Online banking and bank feeds, Desktop payroll and tax table updates, online backup, payments integrations, live support and security updates for that version. The software still opens, which is why many teams keep using it unaware of the risk.
Should we upgrade Desktop or move to QuickBooks Online?
Upgrade if you rely on Desktop-only features or work mostly offline. Move to QuickBooks Online if you want remote access, multiple users without a server, automatic updates and no more version deadlines. We sell both and will tell you honestly which fits.
